Community Mental Health Crisis Management

  • Spectrum CARES
    • Provides 24-hour phone, in-person crisis therapy, assessment, de-escalation supports for children and adolescents in Erie County. Can help facilitate assessment at CPEP if necessary.
  • Crisis Services
    • Multiple phone and in-person crisis therapy and assessment services.
  • NY START
    • State-run program. Provides crisis management services for children and adolescents with developmental disabilities linked with Office for People with Developmental Disabilities.

Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Programs

Provide emergent assessment of children, adolescents, and adults at imminent risk of hospitalization or safety concerns.

    • Provides therapy and psychiatric services for children and adolescents. Includes full scale individual and group dialectical behavior therapy program. Includes Parent Child Interaction Therapy program.

Partial Hospital Programs

  • University of Rochester Partial Hospital Program
    • Two-week long program. Provides intensive treatment for adolescents (ages 12-18) at imminent risk of hospitalization. Program hours similar to school day hours. Program currently virtual but was in-person prior to COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Erie County Medical Center
    • Two-week long program. Provides intensive treatment for adults (ages 18 and over) at imminent risk of hospitalization. Program is in person, hours similar to school day hours.

Acute Inpatient Mental Health Facilities

Provide short term psychiatric hospitalization (5-10 days) for children and adolescents.


Intermediate Inpatient Mental Health Facilities

Provide intermediate term psychiatric hospitalization (1-3 months) for children and adolescents.


Residential Mental Health Facilities

Provide long term psychiatric hospitalization (6-18 months) for children and adolescents.
